Before I go to sleep movie review.

Before I go to sleep is a movie based on a novel of English writer S.J. Watson. It is a 2014 mystery film directed by Rowan Joffe and starred by Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth, and Mark Strong.

The movie is about Christine Lucas (Nicole Kidman) a 40-year woman who suffers from a physical attack that has left her unable to recall memories except her early 20s. She sleeps everyday and wakes up the next day with no memories, neither recognizing her husband Ben (Colin Firth) nor herself in the mirror. When her husband is at work, a mysterious daily call form Dr. Nasch (Mark Strong) reminds her of the existence of a camera on which she is hiding a video diary. Dr. Nasch helps Christine to recover some of her memories. One day, terrifying new truths begin to emerge that make her question everything she thinks she knows about her life and everyone in it, including her doctor and even her husband. “Before I Go To Sleep” is a thriller movie that will leave the viewer guessing until the final scene.

The movie takes place in London in 2013. Most of the scenes are at Christine and Ben’s house. The house is located at a place like a forest. The house is quite and big. The movie and the setting provoke a feeling of staying quiet and being confused as Christine is in the movie. Imagine yourself waking up not knowing anything around you, you will stay calm observing what is happening, and you will be confused. This is the feeling that the movie communicates to the viewer.

Nicole Kidman or Christine gives a well performance in the main role. She is very convincing. The facial expressions are very good. She was acting as if she is an amnesiac person for real. Her performance makes you live and engage with her confusion and instability. Also, Ben, her husband, is a quite person who wakes up everyday reminding Christine of herself and her life, showing her pictures of their wedding. He performs his role very well too, that make you question about how can he handle a life like this? And think that he is a very faithful and loving husband.

The lighting is excellent; it supported the movie and the whole atmosphere. The background soundtracks make you get into the mood and the atmosphere of the movie.

The movie is magnificent and entertaining. An hour and half of thriller and suspense. Recommended for those who like psychological thriller movies. It will engage you and your emotions and keep you bolt upright in your scene. It is the best movie I’ve seen in 2014.
